MIDI Instrument Definitions

These pages set out the MIDI messages a number of popular instruments answer to, each read from its maker's own documents. They began with the author's own instruments, so that the software on this site could work with them, and grow a few models at a time so that they are useful to other developers and musicians too.

There are 172 models from 36 makers so far: 1010music, Ableton, Access, Akai Professional, Alesis, Arturia, ASM, Behringer, Dirtywave, Dreadbox, Elektron, Ensoniq, Erica Synths, Expressive E, Groove Synthesis, Intellijel, Korg, Make Noise, Modal Electronics, Moog Music, Native Instruments, Nord, Novation, Oberheim, Polyend, PWM, Roland, Sequential, Soma, Synthstrom Audible, teenage engineering, UDO Audio, Vermona, Voce, Waldorf, and Yamaha. Each is loaded in Python by the name beside it, as in pymidiinstrumentdefs.load("ableton/move").
